of the minute of the North Tolsta Historical Society at the
Schoolhouse, North Tolsta on Wednesday 13 th May at 7.30 pm.

to address the meeting on small grants.

- Note
of the last meeting.
The
note of the last meeting on 22 nd April 2009 was approved.
- Matters
arising
Aird
Walk – Extra posts are now in the community shed
and arrangements will be made shortly to put them in place.
Classic
cars – The CE will not be involved with the Classic
Cars on 23 rd May.
Visit
– Sandra Kelsey and her husband visited the CE
on 23 rd April.
- Alasdair
Nicholson – Alasdair addressed the meeting and
explained possible
grants
that we could apply for to help fund projects such as plaque
at Garry,
leaflet
for Aird Walk etc. The chairman thanked Alasdair for his help.
Chairman
asked the committee members to bring to the next meeting proposals
for
the next project.
Caidreachas AGM – A group has been set
up at the Lews Castle College to address community and CE
activities for the Year of Homecoming. From that group grew
the idea of the Hebridean Heritage Hub, which is now an
entity recognised by the Comhairle and the Community
Planning Partnership and it is hoped that Heb.Con. will
be able to proceed to the next stage through this group.
Roots
Hebrides is to be revised. The next meeting of the Caidreachas
will be on 8 th June.
- Operation
Cauldron 1952 – The CE received a DVD from Mike
Kenner, Dorset . The DVD, which had been declassified from
the Ministry of Defence film/ Operation Cauldron 1952, shows
activity on board Ben Lomond and the pontoon off Tolsta
at that time. There was some discussion about an evening
showing of the DVD to the public.
- Correspondence

The chairman indicated that the WITPG had requested
a letter of support
from
the CE re their application for Lottery Funding and he had
responded to
their
request.
b
. Past copies of Seanchas and a copy
of Clachan Crìche had been requested by
the National Library for Scotland and these had been forwarded
to the library.
c
. A letter and a loan of copies of the French Magazine
– Chasse-Marée had been received from John Murdo
Macleod, Jamieson Drive . The magazine had some photos of
Tolsta Sgoths being beached at Cladach Ghiordail
under the heading Cladaichean Duilich -
les Lieux d'atterrissage difficile – the articles are in
French!

. A DVD of the Community Council Banais Taighe
was received from Donald Mackinnon. The committee
expressed their appreciation.
