School Records 1902
June 30th 1902
The headteacher opened school this morning, but became so ill that he had to retire and go to bed. As there were rumours that several scholars and others in the village had fever a telegram was sent to Stornoway for the doctor.
July 1st 1902
Dr Mackenzie examined the headmaster and several of the children and pronounced the disease enteric fever (typhoid).
July 2 1902
A telegram was received today saying that the Medical Authorities had ordered the school to be closed owing to the outbreak of fever. This was done.
December 19th 1902
School reopened today with an attendance of 111 (Roll 202).
Alex Maciver has begun his apprenticeship as pupil teacher and Christina Maclennan as stipendiary monitor.
