Minutes of December 2011 meeting - December 7, 2011

Note of the meeting of the North Tolsta Historical Society at the Schoolhouse, North Tolsta on Wednesday 7th December 2011 at 7.30p.m.

1. PRESENT

M. Murray, J. Macleod, R. Murray, M. Maciver, S. Maciver, A. Mackenzie, M. Macdonald, E. Mackenzie, C.M. Smith.     Chair: D. Murray. APOLOGIES: C. Macleod, J.A. Maciver, R. Macleod.

2. Note of the meeting of Wednesday 28th September 2011 was approved.

3. Matters Arising

No matters arising.

4. Project: -

Project Report. The plaques at Garry Bridge and the Cladach are now in place. The committee is very happy with the work done. £2000 from CNAG has been paid into our account also the second installment from Heritage Lottery - £3440. Pamphlets: The second draft of the information pamphlets for the Tolsta Head Walk was checked and a few modifications have to be made before publication.

5. Glen Tolsta BBC Programme.

Donald Murray accompanied Catriona Murray, BBC radio presenter, round Glen Tolsta on Monday 21 st November. A radio programme will be broadcast early in the New Year. He has asked for payment of fees to go to NTHS.

6. Seanchas:

A request was made for articles for publication in the next issue. Rhoda gave out prerecorded audio tapes for checking for suitable topics.

7. Ken Roddy –Training: 

Chairman has made submissions from NTHS for training in: Digital Mapping; Photoshop; Type Setting; Archiving Skills and Guided walks.

8. Finance/ Correspondence: 

Balance at 7th December 2011 was £5362.18. £350 for Per Capita Grant has been paid into account.  It was agreed to carry on with membership of Third Sector Hebrides.  Payment was to be continued for the hosting/Domain name for the website.

There was a request from Back School for items for their displays in 2012. Contact Back School if you have any suitable memorabilia that you wish to lend. The Macdonald family, formerly of 23 NT, gave the NTHS some of their father Cutsaidh’s cartoons. Jan Edgar from New Zealand sent some very detailed information on the Maciver tacksmen of Tolsta.

9. AOCB

A request was made for anything of interest that could be on display/ played during the evening of the Hogmanay dinner. It was decided to give the Peter Macleod DVD.  Web site : A letter was read out from Taylor stating that he was now working freelance. It was decided to invite Taylor to the AGM to discuss the way forward for our website. Facebook: The possibility of Morag setting up a facebook page was discussed. This will be considered later.
