Minutes of September 2011 meeting - September 28, 2011
Note of the Meeting of the North Tolsta Historical Society at the Schoolhouse, North Tolsta on Wednesday 28th. September 2011 at 7.30p.m.
1. PRESENT :

2. The note of the meeting of Thursday 21st. July was approved.
3. Matters Arising
The sum of £102 was raised on the evening of 27th. July in the Hall and this sum together with the sum of £134.40 raised at the public meeting on 1 July will be donated to the Playpark Funds.
-Progress Report. The plinths have now been completed at both sites. Boards which are to be erected at these sites should arrive shortly. Application has been submitted to CNAG for the £2000 which they had already approved for the project.
5. Youth Club Giordail Beach Soirée
On Friday 26 August the Comann Eachdraidh and the Senior and Junior Youth Groups joined forces for an evening at Giordail Beach. The evening was part of the Historical Society’s project as we aim to highlight another part of the village heritage. About 50 children and 15 adults attended. The evening was enjoyed by everyone and we have lots of photographs of this very enjoyable event.
6. Public Meeting 27th. July in Hall On 27th.
July the Comann Eachdraidh had a very pleasant Social Evening in the company of Joan (nee Mackay) and her husband Kenneth Hogg. Joan gave a most interesting Powerpoint presentation on her visit to Canada to trace her ancestral links to that area.
7. Tolsta Head Walk
Material for pamphlet was discussed. The chair distributed material for discussion for Cuairt Mun Aird the Heritage Trail around Tolsta Head. Committee discussed together the information which they would like to be included in the pamphlet.
8. Ken Roddy
Funding for training. Two representatives from the Society have been invited to the meeting in the Tolsta Community Centre on Tuesday 4th. October at 7.30p.m. to see a presentation on the various community initiatives which are being planned for our community. Emma and Donald are to attend this meeting.
9. Finance / Correspondence
Balance at 28th. September was £5830.22
The committee would like to thank Peter Macleod for his DVD of photographs taken when he visited Lewis in June this year.
