In
the spring 2003 a group of 12-18 year olds met at the Comann
Eachdraidh premises. Apart from age, the common link
was that all were interested in the history and culture of
the area. This group are now known as the 'Young Historians'
The
remit is wide and varied, from melodeon tuition, recording,
reserching to collating information.
Our
members are fairly diverse in chosing the areas in which they
want to study. Understandibly not many of the boys are
into the weddings section (sore subject for them) but its
gladly reported that all members are achieving to their full
potential, getting along and having fun!
Here
is a few of the comments some of the members have come away
with!
- On
disucssing the Gearrannan trip it was said:
"A good opportunity to learn about the black house
lifestyle - even our leader isn't old enough to have lived
in one of these"
- Muirneag:
"A long walk, worth every minute, leaving us with everlasting
memories"
- Airighean:
" I wonder if the Midges joined our ancestors on their
trips to the Airigh as they certainly enjoyed coming with
us!"
- Melodeon:
"The atmosphere was electric tonight"
